FEES AND FAQ
Below are some of the most common questions that I receive. If the answer you're looking for isn't here, reach out and we can chat.
WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?
Rates available upon request.
HOW CAN I MAKE PAYMENT?
Payment is due at the time of our session. Typically, credit or debit card payment is set up via IVY PAY, a payment service specifically designed for licensed mental health therapists which is HIPAA compliant.
WHO DO YOU WORK WITH?
I offer online therapy services to adult individuals (18+). My practice is open and affirming, and respects the rights and values of all clients, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender identity, ability, immigration status, or religion. I enjoy working with all types of people.
Do you offer in-person sessions?
All sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA compliant video platform. My clients love the convenience of being able to have sessions whereever they feel most comfortable, it also means there is less time spent communting and juggling your schedule. Plus, online therapy has been thoroughly researched and shown to be just as effective as in-person therapy.
Do I need to commit to weekly sessions?
I typically recommend weekly sessions at the same time each week, as this allows for consistency and steady support for your growth and healing. If more support is needed, I can offer two sessions a week.
CAN YOU WORK WITH CLIENTS OUTSIDE OF NY?
I am licensed to work with clients in NY (086644) and provide psychotherapy services to clients across New York State. I am also a Registered telehealth provider in the state of Florida (TPSW4029) and can provide online therapy services to clients there. Florida's Department website can be accessed here: https://flhealthsource.gov/telehealth/. Coaching sessions are available worldwide.
HOW DO WE GET STARTED?
Please visit my contact page and email to set up a complimentary 20-minute video consultation. This is an opportunity for you to ask questions and for us to talk about the concerns that bring you to therapy or coaching, and whether or I am the right fit for you. While on your consult, you can schedule your first session.
WHAT HAPPENS IN THE FIRST SESSION?
The first session gives me the opportunity to get to know you and develop an idea of how to move forward. I’ll be interested in learning more about what has brought you to therapy at this time, what issues you’ve been facing, and how you’ve been coping so far. You’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions about my practice, my training and how we’ll work together.
WHERE AND WHEN DO SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
While my professional base is in NYC, all psychotherapy, coaching and Brainspotting sessions are exclusively held virtually via HIPAA compliant video platform, which means that sessions can take place anywhere that you have a strong internet connection. Virtual sessions offer us a wide range of flexibility, creating one less appointment to travel to, and allowing you to be in the privacy and comfort of your own home/office during a session. Therapy and coaching sessions typically meet weekly or every other week, and are 45, 50 or 90 minutes long.
DOES BRAINSPOTTING / TRAUMA THERAPY WORK ONLINE?
Yes! Brainspotting and trauma processing sessions work beautifully online. Most clients report preferring the comfort of working from their own space and finding it grounding to be in a familiar environment. Scheduling and rescheduling become easeful, and there is no time eaten by a commute!
DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE FOR THERAPY?
I do not participate in any insurance networks, but your insurance company may provide out-of-network coverage. If you have out-of-network benefits, your insurance company will reimburse you for psychotherapy. Most insurance companies cover a significant portion of the cost for “out of network” behavioral health services, typically ranging from 50% to 90% after a deductible is met. Upon request, I can provide you with a monthly invoice that you can submit to your insurance company directly for reimbursement. Please call your insurance provider to learn more about your out-of-network mental health coverage. You can check your coverage by asking the following questions:
Does my plan include "out-of-network" coverage for mental / behavioral health?
What is my out-of-network annual deductible for mental health benefits?
Is there a limit on out of pocket expenses per year?
How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
Does my plan require pre-authorization for psychotherapy?
What is the policy year (i.e. Jan 1 - Dec 31)?
What is the reasonable and customary fee (the amount that your plan determines is the normal range of payment within a given geographic area)? In order to find out the reasonable and customary fee, the representative may ask for a Clinical Procedure Terminology (CPT) code for the service you plan to receive. Please note that the CPT codes for services are as follows: 90834 (used for ongoing psychotherapy), 90853 (used for group psychotherapy).
How much will I be reimbursed per out-of-network session with a licensed clinical social worker?
Are there any Social Work specific licenses that my insurance does not cover? (Some insurances will only cover an LCSW-R)
What is the required documentation and to what address do I submit claims to?
Does my plan reimburse for “telemedicine” / “telehealth” (online) sessions?
If you choose to use your out-of-network benefits, you will be responsible for payment at the time of your session.
WHAT IS YOUR RESCHEDULING, CANCELLATION AND LATE POLICY?
Once you book a session, I reserve that time specifically for you. I require at least 48 hours notice to rescheule or cancel a session. If you cancel or reschedule with less than 48 hours notice, you will be responsible for and charged the full session fee.
Your session time is dedicated to and reserved for you. If you are late for a session you may join it at any time during the first 20 mins of your deisgnated time period. Our session will still end on time and you remain responsible for the entirety of the regular session fee.
ARE SESSIONS PRIVATE?
Your privacy and right to confidentiality are protected by the law. All communications between a client and a therapist are protected, with the exception of circumstances in which there is suspected child abuse or dependent adult/elder abuse, threat of serious bodily harm to another person, or threat of imminent harm to self. These exceptions are rare. If you are concerned about confidentiality, please bring it up with us so we can discuss your concerns further.
DO YOU PRESCRIBE MEDICATION?
I am not a psychiatrist so do not prescribe medication. I can make referrals to psychiatrists and other health care professionals should the need arise, and am happy to collaborate with members of your healing team with your permission.
CAN I REFER TO YOU?
Please do! Feel free to share my website, email or phone number with anyone who you think would be a good fit or benefit from working with me.
WHAT IS THE GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE?
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. The estimate is based on information known at the time the estimate was created. It does not take into account any reimbursement that you may receive as a result of out of network benefits. The GFE does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. You could be charged more if complications or special circumstances occur. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your GFE, you can dispute the bill. You can save a copy or picture of your GFE. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises
